The process

Start with an Intensive

All our engagements start with an intensive because we are big believers that you need to be really comfortable with and trust the person you’re working with - and an intensive project gives us both an opportunity to make sure that it’s a good fit before we commit to anything long-term.

THEN…

Identify if ongoing support makes sense for you (it might not). If it does, we’ll help you figure out which plan makes the most sense for you and your business and get started.

FAQs

Am I too small to work with a CFO?

Nope - if you’ve got a business, you can definitely benefit from the full range of skills and expertise a chief financial officer brings to the table. In reality, you can’t afford not to have one, you probably just don’t need a full-time CFO. That’s where hiring an outsourced CFO can bring big benefits without a big cost, especially for small businesses.

While a bookkeeper will mostly handle getting data entered into your financial system on the day to day, and your tax accountant will handle your taxes, the CFO is the person who can dig into the details of your business, analyze your data and help you interpret and understand what your numbers are saying. A CFO is there to help you make strategic decisions about growth.

Working with a consulting firm for advisory services can help you get the benefits of deep financial insight without the full-time CFO costs.

It’s not the size of the business that matters, it’s about having someone on your team who intimately understands your business and your systems, with the expertise to help you make healthy growth choices.

I’m ready to take control of my finances, but I’m not quite ready for 1:1 - What should I do?

If working with a virtual CFO isn't quite in your budget yet, or if you just want to understand the basics of business finance BEFORE you work individually with a CFO (which we highly recommend), we have a bunch of free resources available in the newsletter and on the podcast that can get you started.

Can I just hire you hourly?

Not as your CFO. We have pretty strong feelings about the inefficiency of hourly work, and have found that clients get a lot more value out of the intensive format or an ongoing retainer than if we were to charge you hourly.

Will you do my taxes?

Fraid not. We’re firm believers in using the right tool for the job. A CFO's job is to help you understand the story your numbers are telling you and help you figure out what action to take next. It's all about big-picture strategy, with a focus on profitability & efficiency. So that's what we'll work on. And we’ll support you working with your tax pro on the tax part of things.
